YouTube Music is now officially compatible with Apple HomePod, enhancing the music streaming experience for users. While some may already be aware that playing music from YouTube Music on Apple HomePod has been possible for some time, recent developments have deepened this integration, making it more user-friendly.
The YouTube Music product team has introduced a more seamless connection between HomePod and voice commands. Premium and Music Premium subscribers can now easily integrate YouTube Music as a primary playback service within the HomePod. This advancement allows users to use voice commands like “Hey Siri, play music on YouTube Music,” eliminating the need for your phone’s involvement in the playback process.
To enable this integration, you must be a Premium or Music Premium subscriber. Follow these steps:
- Download the latest YouTube Music app.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Connected Apps.
- Connect with HomePod.
If YouTube Music is your preferred streaming service, you can also set it as the default for your HomePod. Here’s how:
- Open the Home app on your iOS device.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Tap your username.
- Select Default Service and choose YouTube Music.
Once these steps are completed, you can effortlessly use short voice commands like “Hey Siri, play music” without the need to specify “on YouTube Music.” This enhanced compatibility between YouTube Music and Apple HomePod promises to provide a more convenient and seamless music listening experience for subscribers.
