WhatsApp, the world’s leading instant messaging application, continues its rapid expansion of features. In the past year, the company enabled data migration between Android and iOS platforms, introduced cross-device functionality, and now it’s granting a long-awaited request: the ability to utilize multiple accounts on a single device.

Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently announced that WhatsApp will soon permit Android users to manage two separate accounts on a single phone. While this feature has been available in the WhatsApp beta version since August 2023, it will soon become accessible to all Android users. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for individuals who maintain separate phone numbers for personal and professional use and need to utilize WhatsApp for both.

This new feature eliminates the need for Samsung’s Dual Messenger, a function that replicates messaging and social media applications to accommodate two accounts with distinct instances of the same app. Nevertheless, those who require even more WhatsApp accounts on a single device can continue to utilize Dual Messenger to manage up to four accounts.

Unfortunately, there is no official timeline for when this feature will be available to iPhone users. Meta has recently been prioritizing Android for the initial release of new features, with iOS following suit. For instance, WhatsApp already offers a dedicated app for Wear OS smartwatches but is not yet accessible on Apple Watches. Meta also has plans to integrate Meta AI and Generative AI stickers into WhatsApp in the near future.
