Samsung is rapidly deploying the latest security update for the month of October 2023. Following its release for high-end phones, this security update is now being rolled out for older mid-range and entry-level devices, with the Galaxy S21 FE being the most recent phone to receive it in Europe.

The most recent software update for the Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G990B) is identified by the firmware version G990BXXS6EWJ1 and is accessible in multiple European countries. Additionally, the slightly newer version of the phone bearing the model number SM-G990B2 is also in the process of receiving the new security update, featuring firmware version G990B2XXS5EWJ1. This update is likewise available throughout Europe.
Samsung’s documentation confirms that the October 2023 security patch addresses numerous security vulnerabilities that were identified in the previous version of the software running on Samsung phones and tablets. It does not introduce any new features, performance enhancements, or reliability improvements.
